We’re already living in the technological dystopia.

So where does SciFi go from here?

Author Ray Newman wrote an interesting article: Don’t let the absence of a flying car in your garage distract you: we are definitely now living in a version of the future out of J.G. Ballard or William Gibson.

He points out some interesting things, and on some points I agree. Facial recognition is everywhere, and it’s just to sell me crap I don’t need. Scooters and self-driving everythings are all around me!

It made me think of science fiction, though. If we’re already at this level of SciFi dystopia, what is going to be next? Post-humanism? Space? Or maybe we can start dreaming of utopia again?
